Riken Vitamin Acquires Site for New Factory

0

Under its Medium-Term Management Plan 2027, Riken Vitamin is optimizing its production structure in Japan and overseas.

The Kyoto Factory is the Company’s core production site for natural colorants, with steady sales growth. It also produces crocetin, a functional ingredient derived from gardenia fruit, for which demand is expected to grow. In addition, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of Gardenia Blue, a natural colorant derived from gardenia fruit, as a food color additive in 2025, and the product is expected to drive further demand growth.

To capture these opportunities and strengthen production capabilities over the medium to long term, the Company has decided to acquire a new site with capacity for future expansion, based on plans to relocate the Kyoto Factory. The new factory is scheduled to commence operations in fiscal 2030 (ending March 2031).

The Company is also evaluating labor-saving and automation initiatives at other domestic facilities. Even after the Kyoto Factory relocation, the site will provide sufficient space to support future business growth and potential reorganization of domestic production operations.
